Top 5 (12)

Welcome back! I promised you a new five today and I’m hear to deliver. Speaking of delivering, the graphics department delivering me a new logo for the top 5. Nicely done to the guys at 67 Studios Production. Cheap plug!

A few months ago, I got to watch one of my favorite performers live in concert. It was my first time seeing him live and holy cow did he deliver! If you get a chance, Go see Butch Walker. I want to do a top 5 of Butch Walker songs one of these days but it will be tough since there’s so many good ones to choose from!

But it got me thinking. Who else would I love to see that I haven’t seen yet? I’ve only been to a handful of concerts so it would be real easy to do. When sitting down to do this, keep in mind I mean artists that are still out there. Would I love to see the original 4 members of Queen performing? In a heartbeat, one has passed. One has retired. So unfortunately that’s not an option for me. But here we go with the 5 bands or performers I’d love to see live.

Honorary Mention – Elton John, Reel Big Fish, Straight No Chaser, The Rolling Stones (No explanation needed because they are the Rolling Freaking Stones!)

5- Shinedown – This is the band I’m more getting into now. They have been around for years, but I’m learning more and more about them recently. I’ve had a few of their songs but my collection of their songs is growing every day. And with apps like Pandora and IHeartRadio, it’s so much easier to discover new music from your favorite bands.

4- Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – Anyone who knows me knows I’m a classic rock guy. Tom Petty to me is one of the most underrated performers out there. He has such a unique voice. His songs are just very down to earth and a lot of people can easily relate to them.

3- Theory Of A Deadman – My taste in music has slowly gotten to a little bit of a harder edge the last few years. There are a few bands that I’ve gotten into and the band that really got me into the sound is Theory Of A Deadman. I know, they really aren’t that hard but compared to my usual groups they are! Cut me some slack!

2- Garth Brooks. He’s in my top five favorite musicians list to begin with. I was never a huge fan of country music growing up, but it took a few artists to change my mind. My first real experience with him was the concert he performed in Central Park many years ago. I saw it on HBO and I thought it was an incredible show on TV so I could only imagine it live.

1- Meat Loaf. Meat Loaf puts new meaning to the words Rock Opera, even though he hates the phrase. Each song is just such an experience due to their length. Think about it? Most songs are roughly 3 to 4 minutes long. Meat Loaf? 6-10 minutes, and that’s probably the trimmed versions of his songs. I would be willing to bet he puts on an incredible show live.

Any of my readers get to check out any of these artists live in concert? Yeah? Let me know!

Hurricane Matthew

I lived in Florida for about thirteen years. I know the destruction that a hurricane can bring. So if any of the readers of my books or any of the readers of this blog live in Florida. I urge you to be cautious. Your Governor has gone on record saying “this storm can kill you.” So please don’t let it. Be safe. If you are told to evacuate, do it. Please be safe. My thoughts are with you as the storm prepares in the next few hours to arrive.

Good luck to everyone on the east coast.

PC. Vol 3 Word Count Wednesday #16

word Count Wednesday (2)

Wow, I really need to keep up with my top 5’s or atleast something that isn’t Word Count Wednesday. Tomorrow, I will post something. I promise.

Welcome to the second to last Word Count Wednesday for Paranormal Contact Vol. 3. Just now I reached a bit of a milestone with this one. PC Vol. 3 has surpassed Volume 1 as far as words go. I know it’s more about quality than quantity. But there was a time I wasn’t sure I would have that much to write about. I was wrong!

Last week’s total words were: 46,207. I wrote some pretty important scenes over the last week that will help tie up some loose ends in the series. And really all that’s left to write is the ending now.

The last act of the book to me is strong. I hope that you the reader will agree it’s a great way to conclude the series.

So where do we stand at the end of the 16th week? How does….

49, 838 sound to you?

See you tomorrow for some updates! Until then, Have a good one everybody!

PC Vol. 3 Word Count Wednesday # 15

word Count Wednesday (2)

Happy Word Count Wednesday-ish. I know. I know it’s not Wednesday. I missed it by 12 hours. But I do have a good excuse. I was just finishing up a scene last night when I went to post this and my internet cut out. So yeah.

WOW, it’s almost really done. Stories are getting wrapped up. I can’t believe it myself. I’ve enjoyed writing Paranormal Contact Vol. 3, well the entire series really.

Last week’s total was a nifty 43,116. I wrote some pretty awesome (maybe slightly biased) scenes this week as I wrap up the series. It should be done by next weekend!

So where do I stand now you ask? That’s an excellent question. Well I won’t tease you any longer. The new word count is….

See you next week!

PC Vol. 3 Excerpt

With Paranormal Contact Vol. 3 officially halfway  done (more on that tomorrow for Word Count Wednesday) I thought it was time for me to show you a little bit more about the book. This might not be the best scene for me to show you, only because it’s heavy on the paranormal contact aspect of it, but I wanted to get you excited for the book. I know it’s short. I will probably add a little bit more to it before it’s released. Tell me what you think?

The room was completely dark, except for a small candle on a table in the corner of the room. A shadowy figure sat in the room in silence for a few moments before speaking.

“If there is anyone here, please give me a sign of your presence. If you’d like you can blow out the candle I have set up here on the table?” Jason spoke. “If not you can touch me if you’d like. Tap on my shoulder maybe?” He sat in silence again just listening around him. “Perhaps you’d like to tap on the wall? Maybe finish this pattern?” Jason knocked twice quickly in succession. He looked around the room, waiting for a sound.

When it didn’t happen, he stood from the chair. He fumbled in the dark for the flashlight on the table. Quickly, Jason switched it on. The room was a little brighter. The light scanned the room. Out of the corner of his eye, Jason thought he saw something.

Immediately he turned around to look in the direction of the closet. The closet door was partially open. He moved quickly towards the door and flashed his light into the small space. Dress shirts were hung up in the closet. Jason looked in all directions, even pushing some of the shirts to the side. But he saw nothing. Jason pushed the shirts back to where they were before moving towards the center of the room again.

“If that was you that I just saw for a second, please let me know? I don’t mean to harm you. I’m not here to scare you either. I’m just here to document your presence,” Jason called out. “Were you the person that Mario saw in his bed?”

There was silence throughout the room. Jason switched off his flashlight again. He put his hand on the foot of the bed. His heard turned slowly from side to side as he examined the room. Jason walked slowly out of the room into the hallway. He flipped on his flashlight again. Jason’s hand grasped the wooden banister as he moved towards the staircase down. Instead of going down the steps, he sat down on the top step. Jason set the flashlight face down on the ground. Once again he was in darkness.

The silence was broken by one of the steps creaking for just a moment. Jason suddenly felt cold. Goosebumps ran up and down his arms. He reached for the flashlight, but immediately pulled his hand back.

“Is that you? Are you here with me?” Jason called out. He heard a small creak behind him. Jason turned around in the darkness. He stood up slowly. The floorboards under him creaked again, but it was a different sound. Jason looked down at his feet.

Suddenly a noise got Jason’s attention. A small bang from down the hall with an even softer clicking sound. Jason bent down and picked up the flashlight. He noticed that the door all the way down the hall was closed. Jason took several large strides until he was at the other end of the hall. His hand grasped the silver doorknob. Instantly, his hand felt like he was holding a piece of ice. He pulled his hand off of it.

“Did you go back into the room? Are you in there now?” Jason called out. He grabbed the bottom of his shirt and used that to grasp the door knob. The door opened slowly. He looked around the room in a frenzy. The closet door was open. Two of the shirts that previously been hanging in the closet were now on the floor. He rushed towards the closet and frantically looked around with the flashlight.

There was nothing out of the ordinary. The look of excitement that was on Jason’s face slowly transformed into one of confusion as he slumped down to his knees.

Democratic National Convention Day 1

Two Dudes

Welcome to day one of the Democratic National Convention. And what a day it was. First the ouster of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The Democratic National party had a bit of an email leak which depending on who you believe was either caused by Donald Drumpf, I mean Trump or it could have been the Russians. Maybe even little furry aliens from the planet Melmac. We really don’t know. The basis of the emails is that the favoritism the party had for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.

It’s got to to be tough to be Bernie. He has loyal followers, but no one apparently in the party. But like a good little soldier, he carried on and once again praised Hillary saying she must be our president.

Someone who used to be a Bernie supporter who now flipped to Hillary is comedian and actress Sarah Silverman. She’s getting flack for it, but in fairness if someone is out of the race why would you continue to support them? It’d be like saying I still think Michael Dukakis has a chance!

Another speaker last night was Michelle Obama. So I expect to see Melaina give the same speech in about 4 years from now. I kid… I kid… not about this, but I am known to kid around from time to time. Her speech was elegant and classy. She talked about how America is still great, taking a shot at the Republican’s slogan. Obama also took another shot at Trump by saying “When they go low, we will go high” basically saying we won’t resort to name calling like a little brat with money. Okay, so she might not have called him that. But I just did.

And yes, I totally took a shot at Alf while discussing the Democratic National Convention. Now if you will excuse me I need to run to ABC Liquors if I’m going to cover more of this. I feel so dirty. See you tomorrow.

Harder this time around

I will tell you this, writing Paranormal Contact Vol. 3 is harder than any other books. I’m sure there’s a few reasons for why.

Part of it is I’m struggling in life, so writing isn’t something that comes easy for me right now.

I want to apologize to my readers. But I will refocus myself and get back to work on it. In return for the lack of two straight weeks without a Word Count Wednesday , this weekend there will be a new scene published right here.

Thank you for sticking with me!
